Abstract
Marash is that geographically located between Mediterranean and Eastern Anatolia regions. This city’s past go over to antique eras and it was denominated with various names in dealing with the political structures which has dominated the region. It was conquered in an early time of Islamic conquests that was reached to al-Jazirah, in Hulefa-i Rashidin era by Halid b. Valid, in 637. Marash is used to be a long time as a gaza base because of it was in border line that was in between Islamic area and Byzantine Empire. In this period, the city was changed hands, devastated and reconstructed too many times and therefore there were not a long-term political stability. This unlucky situation has not already ended with Turkish hegemony too. During the constant struggles between Muslim Turks, Crusades, Byzantines and Armenians, Marash to be exposed to continuous attacks. In the process of after the Mongol invasion in 13th century, settled down there intensive Turkman population and after that became a Turkish land both political and social mean.
In our paper, we are going to compile the records about Marash that was in Medieval Arabic sources and we’ll try to constitute a chronogical Marash narrative from this point of view.
