ABSTRACT
One of the 11 sons of Kılıc Arslan (II), Mugiseddin Tugrul Shah was appointed by his father in Elbistan. Tugrul Shah, who succeeded in maintaining his mission in Elbistan for a long time, sometimes found himself in the Seljuk throne fights. Although he was not very effective and powerful in the throne fights, still he has been taking places in this race with different reasons.
Tugrul Shah, found himself in this fight after his father’s death, during the period of his brother, Rukneddin Suleyman Shah (II). In the intensive throne fight of Suleyman Shah, Tugrul Shah has been loyal to his brother. As a result of this attitude, he has managed to keep Elbistan in his possession.
Perhaps when Tugrul Shah was most influential in the ruling fights, after the period of Giyaseddin Keyhusrev’s death. In this period Tugrul Shah, has been seen in the fights between his nephews, Izzeddin Keykavus and Alaaddin Keykubad. Tugrul Shah is taking place on the side of Alaeddin, and together they sieged İzzeddin in Caesarea. However Alaaddin, depending on different factors, could not prevent the dispersal of the united army of his sideand Tugrul Shah had to return to Erzurum without earning a serious profit in this fight to.
After thedeath of Izzeddin Keykavus, Tugrul Shah was again one of the alternative names for the throne, but he did not get any result. Somehow Alaaddin seized the throne and Tugrul Shah was forced to accept it.
