REFLECTIONS OF SELJUK ERA ART TO CONTEMPORARY WOOD WORKS
ABSTRACT
Seljuks who cameto Anatolia through Turkmenistan, Horasan, Azerbaijanand Iran is one of the Turkic colonies that brought old traditions and cultures a long with them. They formed Seljuk Art that shaped together with the irown traditions, customs, religious belief sand synthesis of neighboring societies. Seljuk Art also developed in 13th century and used in many parts of Anatolia. Shamanism culture in Middle Asian Turks for medits own distinctive character with Islamic my sticism and Sufism in Seljuk Artworks. Those art Works have been used in all of the Seljuk geography from porcelain to ceramic, plaster to stone relief, mining, we aving and wood arts. Amongst those geographies Kahramanmaras carried traces of Seljuk wood art to modern times. In Seljuk era art works, eagle, sphinx, lion, dragon, life tree, pomegranate flower, tulip, clove, sumbul, lily, artichoke and oakleaf a long with geometric shapes like circles, triangle, rectangle, square were predominantly used to depict abstract themes. Amongst importantart works of this era carving, embossment, coloration, engraving, assembly techniques on walnut, apple, pear, rose, pinetrees in wood Works were used so as to embellishall kinds of places.
Wood became an indispensable material for architectural works of all time frame sand places in Anatolian Seljuk geography. We will examine reflections of Seljuk art to wood hand works in Kahramanmaras.
