ABSTRACT
Seljuks tatesmenenthorned Izzeddin Keykavus I When Kaykhusraw I martyrdom in Alasehir war in 1211. Keykavus, dealing with the throne struggles in the first years of his rule, conquered Sinop and Antalya.
Mean while, Leon II whocount of Cilicia Armenian scooperated with Francsand began threatening the southern traderoute of the Seljuks. Thereupon, Keykavus went out expedition to punish to Leon. Keykavus who entered Armenian territory through Kösidere and Gökerin, conquered respectively Çinçin and Haçin castles. Then the Seljuk army that came to front of the Geben castlede feated the Armenian army under the command of Baron Constantine in the countryside of Izdi. İn 1218, Keykavus who used Elbistan as the base of operations for the Aleppo expedition failed in the campaign of Aleppo.
In this study, mainly Keykavus' activities in the vicinity of Maras during Armeniansand Aleppo will be discussed.
